Nintendo’s annual Direct Show sure came with a few surprises. With hit after hit, Nintendo are certainly riding the wave of excitement caused by the Switch. There’s plenty on the horizon for Nintendo fans out there. So, let’s have a look at what we can look forward to from the future of Nintendo.

    It’s-a me Mario

Nintendo gave us a glimpse into the colourful and eccentric world of Super Mario Odyssey, with a very 1920’s jazz inspired trailer to boot.

This was one of the first times we got to see a brand-new gameplay feature that will be in the game. Mario’s new hat, called Cappy, allows Mario to possess all manner of enemies and objects from around the world. This adds a brand-new aspect to the game and we cannot wait to get our hands on it and see exactly how this plays out.

    Gotta catch ‘em all

No one at GAME HQ saw this one coming. Pokémon is coming to the Nintendo Switch. When? Well, we’re not quite sure on that. All we know right now is that there’s a new game in the pipeline. It’s certainly an exciting time for Pokémon fans everywhere. Watch this space – we fully expect to see Nintendo drip-feed us important updates, as anticipation for the new game continues to build.

    Draw your sword

We saw some stellar looking action games throughout the Nintendo Direct event.

Starting with Xenoblade Chronicles 2, we were introduced to a stunning landscape that just continued to ramp up the excitement for the game. The trailer was very story-heavy and this was just what we wanted to see; it gave us a great chance to get a better understanding of the lore behind the game.

Navi – “Hey! Listen!” – Nintendo also delighted fans of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild with the announce of the first of two DLC packs that will be coming to the game.

The first of the expansion passes, The Master Trials, will be available from the 30th June, with the second DLC coming later this year. With Amiibos of all four champions on their way, the future is certainly bright for The Legend of Zelda fans around the world.

Alongside this, we also got to see Fire Emblem Warriors. The latest entry into the franchise looked very intriguing indeed. Tasked with a saving the world from an evil dragon, Fire Emblem Warriors’ storyline looks like it’ll have loads to offer us. So, the chance to be thrown into the world has us very excited indeed.

Nintendo have put a huge emphasis on third-party support for the Switch, and this was showcased throughout Nintendo’s event.

It was announced that cult-favourite, Rocket League, would be making its way to the console later this year. Alongside the confirmations of FIFA 18 and Skyrim, it certainly looks like Nintendo plan to deliver a killer third-party experience for the Switch, and we can’t wait to get our hands on some of the titles!

    Nintendo do it right

There was definitely something for everyone in the Nintendo Direct event. Whether you’re a hardcore Nintendo fan, or a casual gamer, Nintendo are here to provide you with a unique gaming experience that you just won’t be able to find anywhere else.
