In new gameplay footage, Square Enix showed Lara “becoming one with the jungle” as she battles against Trinity in a thick rainforest.
Featuring jungle camouflage, rope takedowns and distraction techniques, Shadow of the Tomb Raider looks visually stunning. We’ll also see new ways of moving around the map in this game too, with new rappelling and wall running mechanics, as well as as 360 degree water exploration.
According to game developer Daniel Chayer Bisson, we’ll be transported into the deadliest environment yet, and be able to explore the “biggest hub” ever created in a Tomb Raider game.
Following on from the previous entries, Shadow of the Tomb Raider picks up the story in Latin America as Lara looks for an ancient Mayan artifact with a connection to her father, the late archaeologist Richard Croft.
Touted as “the climactic finale of Lara Croft’s origin story”, players should expect another highly dramatic installment, which will show how Lara became the iconic figure from earlier games.
Shadow of the Tomb Raider will be released on PS4, Xbox One and PC on September 14.
