Well, Microsoft sure know how to announce their presence at E3, don’t they? Their conference took the whole of GAME HQ by storm, with a huge list of announcements – we we’re struggling to keep up with all the excitement!

    The Xbox One X

Let’s start with the biggest announcement of the conference, the Xbox One X. Formerly known as Project Scorpio, the Xbox One X sure looks like it’s going to pack a punch!

If you’re looking for a seriously beautiful gaming experience, then look no further than the Xbox One X. Supporting ULTRA 4K HD resolution capabilities, the console promises to deliver the most impressive graphical prowess that console gaming has ever known. The inside of the console has been upgraded in almost every way possible – they even managed to make it smaller than previous iterations (that’s straight up witchcraft I tell you)!

    All those games

Microsoft may have hit hard with the console, but this was more than backed up by their games showcase as well. With a huge number of games on show (we counted 42 here at GAME HQ). The future of gaming certainly looks bright for all Xbox fans the world over.

We were particularly impressed with Forza Motorsport 7; always a flagship franchise for showing off the graphical capabilities of their consoles, Forza Motorsport 7 did not disappoint. Set in Dubai, the trailer showed off the beautiful array of cars and courses we’ve come to expect from the series, but this pushed the bar even higher, yet again.

While we’re talking about beautiful games, what about Assassin’s Creed: Origins. Wow, just… wow. Set in Ancient Egypt, the latest entry into the Assassin’s Creed franchise promises a lot of stealthy excitement. We’re particularly excited about climbing to the top of a pyramid or two, if only to survey the beauty of the world around us.

We even got a brief cameo from the muscle man himself, Terry Crews. Don’t worry, he wasn’t here to push Old Spice, instead he swapped out the deodorant for an assault rifle. All of this was in aid of Crackdown 3 – after all who better to introduce a game about super-powered humans than the muscular freak of nature himself. Crackdown 3 itself continued to entice us, with its distinctive art style and engrossing gameplay, we can’t wait to get our hands on this one.

    Not just the big boys

Microsoft have always made a big deal about supporting the smaller developers out there for their consoles, and this year was no different.

Leading the way had to be State of Decay 2. The previous entry in the series was a surprising hit with gamers across the world. A zombie apocalypse with a realistic aspect to it. This is for those out there who really think they can survive a zombie invasion. Think you’re up to task? Prove it!

That wasn’t it though; we also got a look in at the pirate inspired Sea of Thieves, indie darling Cuphead, Black Desert and Code Vein (to name but a few). Clearly Microsoft show no signs of pulling back from supporting smaller developers, and we wouldn’t have it any other way.

    The future of gaming

Microsoft really put on a stellar conference. We’re still trying to get over it ourselves here at GAME HQ. From games to consoles, Microsoft had it all. Topping that? Well you can try, but don’t hold your breath.

Stay tuned with GAME to find out all the latest news and announcements from E3 2017.
